Australian Poly Specialists fabricated fittings are manufactured from pipe of the pressure dimension shown in Technical Specs.
These products should be pressure re-rated according to the following formulae.
(A) BUTT WELDING
(i) All equal tees, junctions, and mitre bends are to be fabricated by full
face butt welding only.
(ii) Fittings are to be hydrostatic pressure re-rated from the nominal pipe
class. This re-rating takes into account a butt weld strength of 90% of pipe
strength, and stress increase due to fitting shape. The re-rating factors to be
applied are:
Rating = Pipe Class x ( 0.9 / 1.5 )
(iii) Wye (Y) junctions are for drainage and applications only.
(iv) All requirements for butt welding must be observed.
(B) EXTRUSION WELDING
(i) Tees, junctions, and mitre bends may be extrusion welded where full face
butt welding is not available.
(ii) Fittings made by extrusion welding are to be pressure re-rated from the
nominal pipe class. This re-rating takes into account extrusion weld strength
of 60% of pipe strength, and stress increase due to fitting shape. The
re-rating factors to be applied are:
Rating = Pipe Class x ( 0.6 / 1.5 )
(iii) The maximum ratio of branch/main pipe diameters by 45%.
(iv) Wye (Y) junctions are for drainage applications only.
(v) All requirements for extrusion welding must be observed.
(C) HOT AIR GUN / ROD WELDING
(i) Tees and junctions are to be hot air gun/rod welded only where full face
butt welding, extrusion welding and socket fusion is not available.
(ii) Fittings made by rod welding are for drainage applications only.
(iii) All requirements for rod welding must be observed.
(D) TOLERANCES
Linear ( +5mm, -0 ) for dimensions up to 1000mm
Linear ( +10mm, -0 ) for dimensions above 1000mm
Angular ( +2deg )
